Former Australia bowler Brad Hogg blamed England captain Eoin Morgan for the failure of Ben Stokes, who was on a three-match half-century streak, in the ongoing World Cup match against New Zealand at Riverside Ground in Durham on Wednesday. “Morgan slow run rate has caused Buttler’s false shot. Stokes should have come in at 5. Moment for New Zealand to get on top. #NZvENG #CWC19,” Hogg tweeted. Ben Stokes scored 11 runs off 27 balls before he was dismissed by Mitchell Santner. However, prior to this, the all-rounder has delivered an astounding performance for the team.


Stokes scored 79 runs against India while racked up 89 runs against Australia and played an unbeaten knock of 82 runs against Sri Lanka. England got an impeccable start as the openers Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy formed a 123-run partnership. However, 36th over onwards, there was a lack of aggression by the English players. Both Stokes and Morgan played slowly which built pressure and as a result, Stokes gave away an easy catch in the 42nd over. Morgan scored 42 runs from 40 balls.
With the help of Bairstow’s 104-run inning, England managed to put up a target of 306 runs for the Kiwis. England need to win this match to confirm their semi-final spot.

England (337/7) beat India (306/5) by 31 runs on Sunday to move back into the top four of the 2019 Cricket World Cup standings, taking the advantage from Pakistan in the race for the knockout stages.
Jonny Bairstow and Rohit Sharma both scored centuries, but the hosts were far more clinical with the ball and the chase never truly got going. The loss was India's first of the tournament.

England now sit one point ahead of Pakistan in the race for the top four. A win over New Zealand on Wednesday will guarantee a spot in the knockout stages, while Pakistan will play their final match of the group stage on Friday, against Bangladesh. 
The hosts got a quick start from the pair of Bairstow (111 from 109) and Jason Roy (66 from 57), who combined for nine runs in the first over and built a steady partnership that lasted for nearly half the innings.
Roy was caught in the 23rd over, and Bairstow lasted until the 32nd, by which point the total was already up to 205, with plenty of big hitters still to come.
India's bowlers started to find their length in the middle overs, however, and the in-form Mohammed Shami started to do plenty of damage. He ended the match with an incredible five-wicket haul,
asprit Bumrah only took a single wicket, but he also limited England's batsmen to just 44 runs in his 10 overs
But England finished well, despite Bumrah's strong bowling. The hosts picked up some steam late, pushing the run rate back up thanks to excellent work from Ben Stokes (79 from 54).
He was caught in the final over, helping set a big target of 338.
England started well with the ball, and KL Rahul lost his wicket before he could get a run on the board, bringing Virat Kohli (66 from 76) into play. He and Sharma (102 from 109) couldn't build a rhythm early, and the Men in Blue scored just 28 from the first 10 overs.
Kohli and Sharma needed a lot of time to find their groove, but the chase started to come alive in the middle overs, highlighted by three straight boundaries from Sharma off Stokes to start the 26th over. Kohli lost his wicket in the 29th, however, by which point the Men in Blue desperately needed to up the pace. 
He lost his wicket soon after, however, with the hard-hitting Hardik Pandya (45 from 33) taking his place as the required run rate had risen to double digits. 
And despite his best efforts, England's bowlers remained in control, never giving the momentum to the Men in Blue. Liam Plunkett took three wickets, but Jofra Archer was the star of the show, giving up just 45 runs in his 10 overs.

10.5 Shakib Al Hasan to Rahmat Shah, OUT, taken at mid-on. That is a soft dismissal for Afghanistan's best player. Length ball skids on with the arm at off stump. He looks to pull uppishly with the front leg in the leg side. Ends up slicing weakly for the fielder tracking back there

28.1 Shakib Al Hasan to Gulbadin Naib, OUT, brilliant field placing captaincy by Mashrafe! They had a man at short mid-off a little while ago and Liton was moved a touch wider at short extra cover at about yards. The ball has been stopping a touch on this pitch all day with flicks and drives going slightly uppish in the ring and on this occasion Gulbadin laces a flat drive to Liton, who claims a catch at ankle height crouching slightly forward. Shakib erupts, as does the partisan Bangladesh crowd! 8/10 on degree of difficulty due to the pace it came at Liton from short range but it was straight to him on line.

28.3 Shakib Al Hasan to Mohammad Nabi, OUT, Bangladesh's king of the tourney castles the President of Afghanistan! It was a beauty flighted on fourth stump and skidded on with Nabi's technique exposed. He gave a half-hearted stride forward prodding with a gap between bat and pad. The ball clips the inside edge before ricocheting onto leg stump. Shakib is rocking this tournament!

It could have been an over of 'If only'. There was a ball that saw bad cricket from both batsmen and the bowler, Mossadek Hossain.

Hashmatullah Shahidi had tapped the ball into the offside and both he and Gulbadin were ball-watching. Incredibly, they were strolling while ball-watching. Like a blooper reel, they both looked up to see each one was considerably down the pitch. There were gesticulations and a scramble back. Would have been an easy run out at the bowler's end. But where was Mossadek? Standing some metres away from the stumps, and not just that - standing in the line of sight of the cover fielder, Liton Das. Poor Liton had to relay the ball to Mossadek. By the time he turned and took some steps and lunged to break the stumps, the batsman was home. But Liton ended up copping a earful from Mossadek.

That would have been that, except two balls later, perfect drift, flight and glovework to have Shahidi stumped. Afghanistan 79 for 2 in 21 overs.
